January 1st, 2013

January 2013 – ASTYM® Treatment Now Available at Active Physical Therapy & Sports Injury Center:

active_PT3_-052Tim Messer, DPT and owner of Active Physical Therapy & Sports Injury Center, recently achieved certification as a provider of the ASTYM treatment. ASTYM is an evidence-based rehab program that has proven to be effective in the treatment of repetitive stress injuries and scar tissue. These injuries include: Achilles tendinitis, shin splints, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylosis) golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylosis), plantar fasciitis and other chronic injuries. ASTYM is also very effective in conditions resulting from scar tissue that can interfere with recovery, following an injury or orthopedic surgery.

ASTYM stimulates the body to regenerate and heal, decreases pain, enhances mobility and keeps patients active. The ASTYM process works even where other approaches fail because ASTYM targets and corrects the underlying cause of most soft tissue disorders.

active_PT3_-054It is a non-invasive treatment which means there are not injections or incisions. Instruments are applied topically to locate unhealthy tissues, and to transfer mild to moderate pressure to the soft tissue structures. ASTYM treatment stimulates tissue turnover and the regeneration of tendons, muscles and other soft tissue structures.

Tim Messer, DPT, is one of a few select physical therapists in the Missoula area who provide ASTYM treatment. For more information about ASTYM please call our office at: 406-829-9600 or visit www.astym.com.
